Our Town and Our Chamber

Welcome!

The basic mission of the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce is to serve the community, not only by fostering the growth of local businesses, but also by promoting the continued progress of New Canaan as a whole.

In discharging its responsibilities as the overall representative of the New Canaan business community, the Chamber conducts many activities of direct and indirect benefit to its members. These include the annual Village Fair and Sidewalk Sale, during which the core business area becomes a pedestrian mall; the ongoing Downtown Beautification Campaign; the Halloween Parade and the holiday lighting of downtown New Canaan; surveys of public opinion and participation in community celebrations and other projects.

The Chamber also strives to maintain a close liaison with local government and community groups working toward resolution of problems of mutual concern such as public parking, zoning, and business development. The economic conditions are a primary concern and the Chamber works to bring businesses to New Canaan and support those businesses with marketing advice, public relations and networking opportunities.

A newcomer to New Canaan is immediately impressed by the town’s strong community pride, its many activities and its determination to preserve a small town atmosphere, and yet be a progressive community. The Chamber of Commerce firmly believes that it has an important role to play in maintaining these goals.

With very best wishes,

Pamela B. Ogilvie, Executive Director
